About Emme
Emersyn’s (Emme's) story begins when she was born 9 weeks prematurely in Michigan. She spent 48 days in the NICU before being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy due to a lack of oxygen, and a variety of other factors. Emme started Physical Therapy at just 6 months old after she was not meeting certain milestones. When she started to “walk” at 15 months old, she used a Pacer to aid her as she could not walk alone. At that time, the PT and doctors were not sure if she would ever walk alone without devices. She then took her first steps - unaided at 18 months old. Her CP mostly affects her left side - this condition, diparesis, is a subtype of CP - as well as her eyesight, causing her left eye to turn in, requiring her to wear glasses. Fast forward, Emme is an amazing, bright 7 year old little girl who has overcome so much adversity to get where she is today.
Completely Emme uses many of Emersyn’s own words and phrases in order to tell her story.

About the Author
Justine Green, Ed.D. is an educator, award-winning author, and disability advocate based in Boca Raton, Florida, where she served as the Principal at Tamim Academy. Justine was born with Atresia and Microtia. Microtia is a condition where the outer ear does not develop properly and Atresia is the absence of the ear canal, leaving her deaf in her left ear. Knowing she was different from birth, and boasting three reconstructive surgeries under her belt, Justine learned to read lips and worked hard through school. She used her disability as motivation and ultimately found her life’s purpose through these challenges. Her passion for inspiring others moved her to write a story based on her own life, Completely Me, to teach readers to love themselves and others, and that everyone’s imperfections are what make them perfect.
